UPDATE - June 10, 2014: In the wake of Mia Deakin's shooting, Vancouver police are warning young women to stay away from known gangsters.
Vancouver police Sgt. Randy Fincham said a female victim, who was shot in the shoulder, suffered "serious injuries" but was in stable condition after surgery. He would not confirm the woman's identity.
A 27-year-old man who was with her was treated at the scene for minor injuries to his hand. He was later arrested for an outstanding warrant, said Fincham on Monday.
Investigators are determining who was the intended target of the shooting on East Hastings near Vernon Drive, but they said the attack was not random.
One witness told the Vancouver Province they saw an armed man firing a high-powered rifle from the back seat of an SUV while another man fled from the vehicle.

Claman, who is originally from Merritt, B.C., is a wealthy entrepreneur who starred in the now-cancelled "Real Housewives of Vancouver." Self-described as "Martha Stewart on acid," Claman owns a high-end clothing boutique and catering business.
Deakin, who also uses the last name Claman, made guest appearances on the reality show that ran for two seasons on Slice. Lark Productions, which produced the show, released a brief statement but offered no details about what happened: "We wish Mia a very speedy recovery and our thoughts are with the Claman family at this time."
Several cast members tweeted their concern on Sunday:

Last year, Deakin, 28, appeared in an OLN TV show called "The Project Guatemala" that threw unsuspecting "sheltered, spoiled, and self-centered" 20-somethings into a construction project for orphaned and abandoned children in rural Guatemala.
Her bio from that show states:
Mia is the life of the party. She has a big personality and her friends describe her as loud, loyal, witty, outgoing, and bossy. She comes from a privileged background and spends her evenings with other rich kids frequenting the city’s best venues, clubs, and restaurants. She loves to party and has been known to dance on tables until the sun comes up. Mia has travelled extensively but has only experienced other parts of the world in luxurious ways.
