Canadian superstar DJ/producer Deadmau5 is currently en route to Ibiza, which is not unusual, though his mode of transport is. Rather than a private jet, Deadmau5 is driving to the Spanish party island in the annual Gumball 3000 car race. Or rather, was after being stopped by French authorities.

According to Autoevolution French police officers "decided to suspend his driving license on French soil," although no official explanation was given.

Deadmau5 was competing in the 2014 Gumball 3000, a rally car race with three legs starting in North America (Miami) and then heading overseas to Europe before concluding in Ibiza today. On Tuesday, Deadmau5 -- who was driving a vehicle he dubbed the "Purrari" (a Ferrari 458 Italia famously decorated with a Nyan Cat decal) -- tweeted the following which could infer he might have been caught for speeding while his co-driving partner Tory Belleci, host of the television show Blow It Up! further elaborated:

A few hours later Deadmau5 updated his Twitter followers, stating he was flying to Barcelona before heading to Ibiza while Belleci would do the rest of the driving through France into Barcelona. Belleci would then take a ferry to Ibiza where he would pick up Deadmau5 today, June 11, to finish the race. Both Belleci and Deamau5 spoke via Twitter with Belleci playfully giving Deadmau5 a hard time about what happened yesterday.

Deadmau5, who will be releasing a new studio album later this summer and has now finally crossed the finish line, will play a free show in Ibiza to wrap up the continent-spanning race.
