No, Toronto hasn’t seen its first $100-million home listed on the market.
But anyone checking the listings for the Toronto suburb of Richmond Hill today would have found this entry for a house for sale for $99,988,800.
Now, it’s a nice house to be sure — four bedrooms and a two-bedroom basement apartment on 4,000 square feet in a pleasant suburb north of Toronto. But a $100-million palace it isn’t.
Real estate agency Century 21 Skylark says it was a typo. Take the two zeroes off the end of the advertised price and you get the real one: $999,988. The agency says it’s fixed the error, but it may take a few days for the correct number to appear in online listings.
You’d think a mistake like this would send buyers fleeing, but it may prove to be an unexpected source of attention. The real estate agency says it’s been inundated with calls about the property since the listing went up.
