Port Moody scooter crash leaves elderly woman dead

A 71-year-old woman riding a mobility scooter has been killed in an accident in Port Moody at the corner of Ungless Way and Ioco Road during the afternoon rush hour.

Port Moody police Inspector Ken MacDonald says the woman was riding on her scooter alongside her daughter around 3:30 p.m. PT when she was struck by a large commercial truck.

MacDonald says two other vehicles were also involved in the collision. The occupants of both vehicles have been taken to hospital.

Police say Ioco Road between Newport Drive and Ravine Drive will remain closed for at least the next 12 hours.
