Toronto is about to get a lot more stylish!

The city is launching a men's fashion week (only the eighth city in the world to do so), following style capitals such as Milan, Los Angeles and London.

Toronto Men's Fashion Week (TOM), runs from August 11-15, 2014, and will present collections at the Evergreen Brick Works.

Designers expected to showcase their talents on the runway and in presentations include Christopher Bates, Farley Chatto, Sons of Odin, David Hart NYC, Francis Libiran, Hussein Dhalla of HD Homme and Pedram Karimi among others.

Although Toronto Fashion Week includes menswear in collections from the likes of Joe Fresh and Rudsak, TOM founder Jeff Rustia said that it's important for men to have their own, separate event apart from the womenswear-focused TFW.

"Logistically, it doesn’t make sense to lump the men in with the women," said Rustia, "because [the labels] have their own buyers, editors and audience."

Last year, an attempt to hold a mini-men's fashion week, called Modern Man's Fashion Week, was held in Toronto, although five of the eight initial runway shows were cancelled.

Aside from the runway shows, the winner of the EDMA (Emerging Menswear Design Award) will be chosen on the closing night and awarded $10,000.
