Southern Alberta woman accused of abducting her two daughters denied bail

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - A southern Alberta woman accused of abducting her two daughters has been denied bail.

A Lethbridge provincial court judge who heard submissions from lawyers on Wednesday ruled that Trina Meisel (MY`-zul) must remain in custody.

Meisel was arrested last month after her two daughters, who are six and 12 years old, disappeared from a school near Vulcan, Alta.

An Amber Alert was issued and the girls were found with their mother in Boston Bar, 150 kilometres northeast of Vancouver.

Police have said Meisel, who is 49, did not have legal guardianship of the girls.

She has also been ordered to undergo a 30-day psychiatric examination in Calgary.

Her next court date is scheduled for July 25.
