World Cup semifinals: How they got there

And then there were four.

The FIFA World Cup is down to the last four teams: Netherlands, Argentina, Germany and host Brazil. All of them are powerhouses, with Germany the top-seeded squad at No. 2, according to the FIFA rankings. 

On Tuesday, Brazil plays Germany in Belo Horizonte (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 3:30 p.m. ET).

On Wednesday, it's Netherlands vs. Argentina in Sao Paulo (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 3:30 p.m. ET)

Here's a look at how each semifinalist made it to the final week of the Brazil World Cup:
