ASSUMPTION, Alta. - A 34-year-old man has been charged with murder after the remains of his wife were found by a police dog in a remote rural area near Assumption, Alta.

RCMP say they responded to a 911 call for a domestic violence complaint at a residence on the Dene T'ah First Nation.

Officers say the woman at the residence had been forcibly taken from the home.

After a search was launched and the woman's remains were found, a Canada-wide warrant on charges of murder and unlawful confinement was issued for Ryan Seniantha of Assumption.

Seniantha was arrested without incident on Friday afternoon.

RCMP would not release the name of the deceased woman, saying they were complying with a request from her family.

An autopsy to determine the cause of death is tentatively scheduled for Monday in Edmonton.
