Sophie Deguire spent two years and $11,000 fixing up the 1995 Acura Integra, a project her brother André Renaud had started shortly before he died in a car crash in 2011.
The Acura was stolen on Tuesday from outside Deguire's apartment.
"I feel like I have a second hole in my heart, you know? Having that car was like having him with me," she said.
She reported the theft to police, but also reached out on Facebook to make sure as many people as possible were looking for the car. Within one day, 450 people had shared her story.
By the weekend, someone reported spotting a car matching its description in a driveway in Ste-Agathe. Police confirmed it was in fact Deguire's missing Acura.
Deguire said she's grateful to everyone who helped out in the search.
"It's everybody's participation... the community that helped out. This is their victory. For sure my brother was watching from above trying to help out as best he could."
