The board is conducting a review of how the power company responded to the storm, which at its peak knocked out power for 250,000 people in both Nova Scotia and New Brunswick when it hit July 5.
It took days and in some cases more than a week to restore electricity for customers.
The board has set a deadline of Aug. 19 for Nova Scotia Power to report on a number of matters including communication lapses, what caused the power outages, what failed and why it took as long as it did to bring back power.
Anyone who wants to have formal standing as part of the review should file notice with the board by July 31 and comments on Nova Scotia Power's report are due Sept. 9.
The board says it will decide what additional investigations are necessary, if any, after it reviews an anticipated response from Nova Scotia Power to be filed on Sept. 16, as well as comments from interveners, board consultants and the public.
