Police in two Lower Mainland municipalities are investigating a possible targeted kidnapping, after a 19-year-old man was found wounded and nearly-naked at the scene of a single-vehicle crash last night.

Ridge Meadows RCMP Insp. Dan Splinter says officers were called to the 13800 block of Sharpe Road, near Old Dewdney Trunk Road, around 9:30 p.m. PT.

"A vehicle was in the ditch. A male, a naked male, said he had been shot and assaulted causing bodily harm," Splinter told CBC News.

"So we attended en masse. We called out Air One to do a thorough search, as well as our police dog.".

The 19-year-old, who is known to police, told officers that he had been abducted in Surrey earlier in the evening, police said.

Surrey RCMP began investigating the man's claims and are in the process of confirming details of his story and identifying potential suspects.

"The investigation is still in its very early stages, however, officers believe this to be a targeted incident," said Surrey RCMP in a written statement.
