Crossing centre line of busy northern Alberta highway proves deadly

FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. - A man from Ontario has been killed in a head-on crash on the busy main road to and from Alberta's oilsands.

RCMP say a northbound pickup crossed the centre line on Highway 63 Monday afternoon and collided with a southbound gravel truck.

They say the 66-year-old driver of the smaller vehicle died at the scene.

His name has not been released.

The gravel truck driver suffered minor injuries.

The highway was closed for about eight hours while police investigated the accident.
