Toronto police say that a driver picked up three young males from the Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue area in the early hours of Monday morning.
The passengers directed the driver to the Finch Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue area, where they allegedly pulled a knife, threatened his life and assaulted him.
Police say the males fled with a phone, some cash and the victim's keys.
Det.-Sgt. Paul MacIntyre told CBC News that dogs were used to track the suspects to a neighbourhood.
A search warrant was obtained and three males were arrested on Monday afternoon.
A 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old man each face charges of robbery, assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon and uttering threats.
A 16-year-old male faces the same charges, along with three counts of failing to comply.
The three accused appeared in a Toronto court on Tuesday.
