Edmonton woman charged in son's drowning to enter plea next month

STONY PLAIN, Alta. - An Edmonton woman charged in the drowning of her young son in a lake southwest of the city is to enter a plea in court next month.

Carmen Gaye Stewart is charged with criminal negligence causing death and failing to provide the necessaries of life.

Her three-year-old boy drowned in Mink Lake near Stony Plain on June 30, 2013.

Stewart appeared in Stony Plain provincial court on Wednesday and her case was put over to Aug. 20.
