Arsonist sought in 3 downtown Vancouver fires

Vancouver police are searching for an arsonist suspected of setting fire to garbage bins inside the washrooms of three downtown businesses on Sunday afternoon.

- The first fire was set at about 4:30 p.m. PT at a business on Robson Street near Bute Street.

- The second was set about 5:30 p.m. at a coffee shop on Davie Street near Thurlow Street.

- The third was started around 7:30 p.m. at a restaurant on Mainland Street near Nelson Street.

Nobody was injured in the fires and damage was minimal.

The suspect is described as:

- White.

- Mid- to late-20s.

- Medium build.

- Short, light-brown hair.  

- Wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt. 

Police plan to canvas nearby businesses for video surveillance recordings that might have captured images of the suspect.
