Russian Hockey Player Smashes Stick Over Player's Head (VIDEO)

THWACK: Russian Hockey Player Smashes Stick Over Player's Head

The World Selects Invitational hockey tournament descended into brutality in Budapest, Hungary last week as a Russian player smashed a stick over a U.S. opponent's head.

Hannah Bates of the under-16 West Coast Selects took a slash from Spartak player Svetlana Starovoytova, according to Yahoo! Sports.

The stick hit so hard that a loud crack could be heard in the video.

Starovoytova's attack came shortly after another slash she gave Bates in the lower back, Yahoo! said.

Twitter user Kalli Bates posted this photo, which apparently showed the stick that was broken over Hannah's head.
