News of Alison Redford's resignation from politics Wednesday spawned a parody account poking fun at the beleaguered ex-premier of Alberta.
With politicians increasingly subject to criticism and judgement on social media, we're sort of surprised this account wasn't created sooner. Afterall, Redford has been embroiled in one spending scandal after another, since the months leading up to her resignation as premier in March.
Criticisms over her travel habits have persisted even after she resigned.
The tweets continued into Thursday, after Alberta's auditor general released a report finding Redford and her office used public resources inappropriately, including the use of government aircraft.
The report said Redford used public assets, including government aircraft, for personal and partisan purposes, including attending party functions and taking vacations.
Redford has been very quiet on social media since her resignation as premier. She explained to the press earlier this year that she was taking some personal time and doing work for her constituents.
Many people have expressed their frustration and disappointment in Redford, including the three candidates who will vie to become the next leader of the Alberta PC party.
The auditor general found Redford and her office had a tendency to work around rules and bend them to fit her favour.
Redford said in her resignation letter that she doesn't plan to stay in politics.
Trained as a lawyer, she said she plans to teach and resume work in international development and public policy.
