Next time there's a meltdown on one of Vancouver's SkyTrain lines, think long and hard before you pry open those doors — it could cost you $115.

Forcing open the doors to a train can result in a ticket under two provincial violations: if you "interfere with the operation of a transit vehicle" or "prevent or delay the closing of a transit vehicle door," Transit Police said in a press release on Tuesday.

The move comes after the system broke down twice in the same week in July. During those incidents, some stranded commuters illegally pried open the doors and left to walk along the tracks.

Transit Police say it's a dangerous plan because parts of the track are charged with 600 volts of power and there's a very real risk of being electrified.

Back in April, a man walked along the tracks because he was reportedly too impatient to wait for his connector bus. He wasn't injured, but he delayed that day's afternoon commute for half an hour.
