Police say Christopher Musqua, 44, is at a high risk to re-offend in a violent manner. He has been missing from Calgary since the end of July.
"Any high-risk offender should be a concern but with Musqua in particular, he does have a history of violence," said Mat Tait with the Calgary Police Service. "He is a drug user as well, which puts him into a high-risk lifestyle."
Musqua is wanted for failing to comply with curfew requirements and failing to reside at an approved residence.
Despite a history of petty crimes, he has never been convicted of a violent crime and was acquitted of a second-degree murder charge in 2003.
He also had an unrelated charge of first-degree murder stayed in another case.
Tait says Musqua can be very unpredictable and should not be approached.
He is believed to have left Alberta and police say he may be in Saskatchewan or Manitoba.
