Innocent Bystander Dead In Downtown Calgary Shooting

One woman, believed to be an innocent bystander, is dead after an early morning shooting in Calgary.

At around 3 a.m. Saturday, police were called to 11th Avenue and 1st Street S.W. for reports of gunfire, according to a city press release. Officers found a woman in her mid-20s suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police don't believe the shooting was targeted.

CBC News reports that the incident occurred close to the entrance of the Bronco Smokehouse and Saloon restaurant and that the victim was with friends and family.

One witness told CTV they saw a silver Volkswagen Jetta driving quickly away from the scene after the shooting.
