Here's What Happens When Flies Land On Your Food (VIDEO)

►What's Worse Than Finding A Roach In Your Meal? These Guys

Dining on insects might be a growing trend in parts of the globe but finding out your lobster linguine is more like a cockroach casserole still remains an instant meal breaker for many.

Well, that's one of the takeaways from a survey released by Orkin in August. In the survey, the pest-control company polled 300 people on whether rodents, roaches, flies, ants, snakes or geckos would cause them to drop the fork and leave the restaurant if they showed up in their meal.

Unsurprisingly, 61 per cent of those surveyed would flip if they found a cockroach in their food. And while the idea of finding unwelcome roaches in any meal is understandably upsetting, they're not the critter you should be making the most fuss about.

That title belongs to the common house fly.

Despite only causing 3 per cent of respondents to dine and dash, flies are twice as dangerous as roaches thanks to their ability to transfer diseases once they come into contact with a surface, ie: your dish, according to Orkin entomologist and Technical Services Director Ron Harrison.

But if that's not enough to make you give pause the next time a house fly is buzzing around your lunch, give the video above a watch.
