AIRDRIE, Alta. - It may sound silly but the Mounties aren't laughing.

RCMP in Airdrie, Alta., are investigating after someone broke into a retail shop and grabbed nothing but cans of Silly String.

The product shoots out of a stream of brightly coloured plastic string from an aerosol can.

Investigators say numerous cans are missing and at least one can was found outside the store, but none of the novelty product was used.

The makers of Silly String say the product is "the original fun in a can" and makes people of all ages giggle, laugh, run and squeal.

Police say they have seized evidence from the scene which is being analyzed by RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
