In the midst of a possible Tim Hortons merger, there's other slightly sweeter Timmies news that may have fallen off your radar.

As first reported on Inside Timmies, the coffee giant has added a new chocolate cheesecake doughnut to its menu with very little promotion. In fact, you may not even get a chance to see it and/or eat it.

The doughnut, which comes in either a strawberry or chocolate flavour is a new specialty dessert at participating restaurants across Canada.

"Participating Tim Hortons restaurants only have a limited amount of ingredients to bake and create these cheesecake-inspired beauties," says Michelle Robichaud, spokesperson at Tim Hortons. "In this instance, it will be a like a treasure hunt when our guests find them."

You hear that, folks? You've been issued a challenge. (If you find one, please send us a picture!)

The strawberry cheesecake version has 290 calories and 18 grams of sugar, while the chocolate version also has 290 calories and 20 grams of sugar.

And these doughnuts are not to be confused with the lemon cheesecake doughnut, which was one of the final eight entries in this year's Duelling Donuts contest from Tim Hortons.

A picture of the chocolate one can be found on Inside Timmies' site. Have you seen it in the wild? Let us know!
