Deadmau5 and Mickey Mouse might soon be in a legal battle that to many seems plain goofy.

TMZ reports the EDM artist and Disney are disputing whether Deadmau5's famed mouse ear headgear is too similar to the Mickey Mouse ears logo of the global entertainment company.

Documents filed Tuesday state Disney says the logo is too similar to their own and thus are attempting to block Deadmau5 from obtaining a U.S. trademark.

Deadmau5 tweeted on Tuesday regarding the news:

Disney also states the ears logo has been linked to their company for more than six decades and granting Deadmau5 a trademark would negatively impact their business in the U.S. and internationally. The artist reportedly applied for the trademark through the proper channels, namely the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2013.

The timing of Disney's stance coincides with Deadmau5's attempt to trademark the mouse ear logo. Deadmau5 has routinely worn the mouse ears helmet on tour for a decade. Deadmau5's attorney Dina LaPolt told the news outlet the musician has a trademark for the mouse ears in over 30 countries including Britain, Italy and Japan.

Deadmau5 is preparing to stand his ground in the dispute. He hasn't made any further comments regarding yesterday's news. However, his "coffee run" with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford might be outdone with a tweet earlier this afternoon regarding a possible "coffee run" with someone else.
