A video of a violent takedown in an Edmonton Walmart parking lot has captured the attention of police.
The video, posted to Live Leak over the weekend, shows two loss prevention officers roughing up an alleged shoplifter during an arrest.
The two civilians struggle with the suspect, who appears to pull a knife and stab at the officers while being taken into custody.
In the video the two men can be heard repeatedly telling the suspect to "stop resisting," while wrestling him to the ground.
Both officers punch the alleged thief on the back and around the head, as well as kicking the man's legs and torso.

Edmonton police confirmed they were called to the Walmart near 185 Street and Stony Plain Road on the evening of August 28.
“There was a report of an altercation taking place between an accused who had allegedly stolen some things from the store and two loss prevention officers,” Patrycia Thenu, Edmonton police spokesperson, told Global.
Police have identified the man as Jeremy Garnhum, 26. Garnhum has been charged with assault with a weapon, theft under $5,000, assault to overcome arrest and possession of a weapon.
According to CBC News, Garnhum has a criminal history that includes previous charges of shoplifting, theft, and fraud.
Police told iNews 880 that the shoplifting suspect was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
In an email to iNews 880, Walmart said: “We are deeply concerned about the incident that occurred at our West Edmonton store. Nothing is more important than ensuring our associates and customers are safe and we are conducting a review of our processes to ensure all safety considerations are addressed.”
Police said no charges have been laid against the officers at this point, but the investigation continues.
