SkyTrain Delays Anger Passengers. Again (TWEETS)

Oy Vey, Another SkyTrain Delay

UPDATE - Sept. 6, 2014: TransLink says the one-hour delay was caused by commuters illegally prying doors open to walk on the guideway. An official told CBC News that just minutes after a train car stalled in Surrey, people exited onto the track, which carries a 600-volt charge, forcing the system to shut down power.

"What should have been a seven to 10 minute delay ended up being almost an hour as more than 100 passengers placed themselves at risk by walking on the gateway," the official told CBC.

Many commuters in Vancouver's Lower Mainland were unhappily met with the news the SkyTrain system was once again experiencing delays on Friday.

A problem train at Gateway Station affected service on the Expo/Millenium line, according to TransLink's Twitter account.

And as usual, many took the conversation to Twitter.

There were also reports of people prying open train doors and to walk along tracks. Those who do risk violating a new TransLink rule and are subject to being fined and ticketed by Transit Police.

Almost an hour later, TransLink tweeted regular service had resumed with delays.

One passenger on board told Global News that after pulsing and heating, the train "just stopped and you could hear some sort of motor go off.” TransLink did not comment on the reports of people walking along tracks.

Back in July, the SkyTrain system shut down twice in one week.
