Thomas Brailsford, who was charged with killing his 78-year-old mother in 2010 and who police earlier this week reported was "unlawfully at large," is back in custody.

Police issued a news release Thursday that said Brailsford, 54, was located last at 11 p.m. Thursday.

Brailsford had been out on an approved day pass from the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), but never returned.

In 2010 Brailsford was charged but later declared not criminally responsible for the death of his mother Barbara Starkey-Brailsford, 78.

Police had urged the public not to approach Brailsford.
