A University of Toronto math student faces four charges after she allegedly attacked her former instructor with a kitchen knife in his office yesterday.

On Wednesday afternoon, police were called to a building on Russell Street, at the university's downtown campus.

Police allege that a math student went into the office of her 42-year-old former instructor and attacked him.

A news release indicates that the woman "began slashing at the man," though the victim was "eventually" able to hold down his attacker.

Other people helped subdue the woman until police arrived.

A 21-year-old woman faces charges of criminal harassment, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous.

The accused is due to appear in court on Thursday.
