Teenager missing after canoe mishap in Caribou Lake

An 18-year-old woman is missing and believed to have drowned in Caribou Lake near Mont Tremblant.

The woman was canoeing with another woman around midnight when the boat tipped and both ended up in the water.

They called for a help and male friend paddled out in a kayak to find them.

He manged to get one woman safely back to shore.

The man paddled back to search for the other but couldn’t find her.

Firefighters from Mont Tremblant arrived on the scene and took over the search, but came up empty.

The search resumed Saturday morning with a team of provincial police divers.
