Adam Jones obliterates TV camera lens with foul ball

Some would say video review needs work in baseball, but it appears they have it right with remotely-operated cameras.

Take Sunday night’s Orioles/Yankees game in Baltimore, for example.

In the fourth inning, Orioles outfielder Adam Jones fouled a ball so hard into a television camera, it shattered the lens.

Take a look …

The impact could even be felt by those watching on television.

This is why Major League Baseball has put nets in front of the people who sit behind home plate, and why the camera in that location isn’t operated by someone.

For the record, Jones grounded out to third base in his fourth-inning at-bat. He doubled in the sixth and struck in the eighth inning of a 3-2 Baltimore victory.
