Princeton wildfire grows quickly in strong winds

Fire crews are still fighting a wildfire about six kilometres north of Princeton, B.C. that broke out Sunday and quickly grew to about 80 hectares because of strong winds.

The fire is burning near the Princton/Summerland Road. Crews have put some sprinklers on the nearby Princeton Fairgrounds and some local businesses.

About 30 firefighters, one helicopter, five air tankers and three pieces of heavy machinery are being used to fight it.

B.C. Wildfire Service spokesperson Kayla Pepper says they suspect it was caused by people.
