Cougar causing a stir outside hospital in Calgary

People in Calgary are being warned to steer clear of the South Health Campus after a cougar wandered to areas just outside the hospital.

Police and emergency crews responded early Thursday morning after the large cat was spotted in a public parkade and then near the east entrance to the hospital in the city’s far southeast.

Fish and wildlife officers have been called in.

The animal was last seen lying in the grass near the south side of the building.

Crews are also trying to corral a second cougar that was spotted in the nearby community of Seton. It’s in a stairwell of a building on Martet Street, police said.

EMS officials say ambulances are still arriving to and leaving the hospital.
