Following the announcement of her pregnancy last week, Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge will no longer be travelling to Malta for her solo weekend tour. The news comes after Clarence House confirmed the rumours on Thursday.

The Duchess (or Kate Middleton) who is expecting her second child, continues to suffer from hyperemesis gravidarum, a type of morning sickness, and was advised by her doctors not to partake in the royal tour.

The Clarence House also revealed the Duke of Cambridge will take over his wife's place in Malta.

The purpose of the Malta tour was to celebrate the island country's 50th anniversary of independence, according to the Guardian, where Kate was scheduled to visit the national library and attend independence day festivities.
