Jennifer Jones and her Olympic gold medal-winning curling team now have their own honourary street name in Winnipeg.

The announcement came from Mayor Sam Katz at the official unveiling of a Team Jones mural in St. Vital Thursday morning.

The mural stretches across the St. Vital Curling Club at St. Anne's Road and Regal Avenue, which will become Honourary Team Jones Way.

"We've run out of awards and accolades to give them," Katz joked to a crowd of about 50 people, who watched as the women received an Olympic banner from the Canadian Curling Association president, the mural was unveiled and the street name sign was passed around.

"You're a little scared when your face is going to be about a storey high," she said. "[But] I think it's beautiful."

Jones said she started curling at the club at age 11, but watched her parents curl long before that.

"My daycare was here," she said, becoming emotional. "My whole life is memories of the St. Vital Curling Club."

Jones said she plans to teach her daughter to curl at the same club.

"To have the street that the curling club is on named after our team is unbelievable," she said. "Who gets a street named after them? We do! It's crazy."
