A 26-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after a T-bone collision in Orleans on Friday night that left the woman trapped inside her vehicle for 40 minutes.

Ottawa paramedics said the crash happened at about 8:30 p.m. ET at the intersection of Jeanne D’Arc Boulevard and Des Epinettes Avenue in the city’s east end.

Fire officials said an SUV collided with a Toyota Corolla, leaving the woman trapped inside her Corolla.

Firefighters were eventually able to extricate the woman after removing the entire driver’s side of the car and part of the dashboard.

Paramedics then treated her for leg, arm and pelvic fractures, plus possible neck and back injuries. She was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

The passenger of the Corolla and the driver of the SUV were not hurt, paramedics said.

Ottawa police are investigating.
