NORMAN WELLS, N.W.T. - An American man has been identified as the hunter killed last week by a grizzly bear in the Northwest Territories.

Kenton Novotny of Germantown, Tenn., died Sept. 17 while hunting southwest of Norman Wells near the Yukon boundary.

The 53-year-old man had been out with a guide when he was attacked by the bear.

The guide was not injured.

Wildlife officers tracked down and destroyed a bear believed responsible for the death on Saturday.

DNA testing is being done on the animal to verify it's the same one.
