Ontario County prosecutors have decided not to charge Tony Stewart following the August 9 incident that killed Kevin Ward Jr. at a sprint car race in upstate New York.

District Attorney Michael Tantillo said the crash victim, Kevin Ward Jr. was under the influence of marijuana "enough to impair judgment" and that two videos showed "no aberrational driving by Tony Stewart."

Ward Jr. emerged from his car after clashing with Stewart during the race. One car swerved to miss him on the track and Stewart in the following car missed him with the front end of his vehicle before making contact with the right rear tire. He died of blunt force trauma.

Social media reaction after the prosecution's announcement was largely supportive of Stewart.
