City Hall workers arrived this morning to find the power still out at the clamshell building, and generators arriving from Quebec. Then later in the morning, couples began arriving at city hall to get married.

While the employees were allowed to report to work, would-be-newlyweds were turned away.

Angela and Daniel Wen had planned to get married at the city hall wedding chapel. With services still closed, the couple walked over to Osgoode Hall, adjacent to city hall, to get married this morning.

The two-alarm fire broke out at 1:50 p.m. in the building's basement on Thursday but little damage was done to the building and the fire was quickly brought under control.
