The Gardiner will be closed from Highway 427 to Carlaw Avenue, from 11 p.m. Friday for its usual twice-yearly round of repairs. It will reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.
“It’s our fall maintenance. We’re doing all kinds of different work,” said Jacqueline White, the TTC’s director of transportation services. “Everything from cleaning the asphalt and repairs to the guide rails.”
The work also includes inspecting bridges, repairing signs and cameras, picking up litter and touching up the road markings. Hydro crews will also work on the street lights.
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes or public transit. The Gardiner is not expected to completely close again until its spring maintenance.
