Drivers in most eastern Canadian cities can expect to see gas prices "rise sharply" going into the weekend, TomorrowsGasPriceToday.com (TGPT) warns.
An outage at Irving Oil’s refinery in Saint John, N.B., is expected to impact retail gas prices in eastern Canada and the northeast U.S.
Additionally, a Suncor refinery in Montreal has been shut down for maintenance as part of the Enbridge’s Line 9 pipeline, which will bring western Canadian oil to eastern Canadian refineries. The shutdown means drivers will be hit with a “double whammy” of price hikes, TGPT says.
Gas prices in Toronto are forecast to rise by three cents on Saturday, before falling on Sunday. Most other eastern Canadian cities can expect a similar price hike, but Montreal and the Maritimes will only see the hike next week, site founder Dan McTeague said.
