LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Residents of a seniors condominium in southern Alberta remain out of their homes after a water main break.

Grandview Village in Lethbridge was evacuated on Sunday, after a water main break caused extensive flooding.

City officials first said about 60 people were affected, but on Monday updated the number to 138.

Fire chief Brian Cornforth says it'll be at least another 24 hours before crews can determine how much longer residents will be displaced.

He said essential services such as power and water must be restored before anyone is allowed back home.

The city is also working with Alberta Health Services to provide information to residents about how to deal with food spoilage when they return.
