Prince Edward Island Senator Libbe Hubley had a close call last week, while on a research mission in Norway.

Hubley, along with senators Jim Munson (Ottawa / Rideau Canal), Don Meredith (Ontario) and David Wells (Newfoundland and Labrador), was in Bergen, Norway, visiting a salmon pen.

Hubley lost her footing while moving between an inflatable Zodiac boat and the salmon pen platform, falling into the water between the two.

Senator David Wells pushed the boat away to keep it from crushing her, while he and Munson pulled her up onto the platform.

Hubley suffered a broken arm, and was sent to the hospital in Norway. She has since returned to Canada and is home in Ottawa resting.

Joanne Ghiz, speaking on behalf of Senator Hubley's office, said the senator doesn't have any other injuries besides her arm and is very thankful for the help of all of her colleagues.

Ghiz said Hubley will be heading back to the hospital soon to find out if she needs surgery on her arm.
