FREDERICTON - Two Liberal candidates have had their victories in the New Brunswick election confirmed by a recount in two ridings.

Judges from the Court of Queen's Bench ruled Thursday the wins by Ed Doherty, in Saint John Harbour, and Gary Keating, in Saint John East, have been upheld by the fresh count of the ballots.

One additional vote went to Keating through the recount in Saint John East, and one additional vote went to the NDP candidate in Saint John Harbour.

Paul Harpelle, a spokesman for Elections New Brunswick, says it's expected the remaining five recounts will be completed over the weekend, possibly by Saturday.

Questions were raised about the accuracy of the electronic tabulation system after a software glitch delayed the posting of election results by about two hours on election night.

The Progressive Conservatives sought six of the recounts while the People's Alliance of New Brunswick asked for one.
