Vikings' loss to Packers still stings

It's tough being a Minnesota Vikings fan following Thursday night's loss to the rival Green Bay Packers.

The Vikings were routed by the Packers 42-10. They are without starting quarterback Matt Cassel for the rest of the season with a foot injury. Promising rookie Teddy Bridgewater was also out with an ankle injury.

To add to their woes, the team played badly with Christian Ponder starting under centre. Many fans placed the blame on the shoulders of Ponder, who was sacked six times over the course of the game.

For his part, Ponder accepted the blame, claiming that the game was "embarrassing." However, turnovers were plentiful with the Packers forcing three in the second quarter alone. Despite the crushing loss and Ponder's questionable play, there are always a few fans that can be counted on to maintain perspective.

Following the recent pattern of the Packers dominating Thursday night matchups, they simply outplayed the Vikings on every level. That won't be much comfort to the Vikings fans who had to witness their team get steamrolled.
