OTTAWA - University of Toronto quarterback Simon Nassar set a single-game Canadian Interuniversity Sport record with 49 completions Saturday in a 53-32 road loss to the Carleton Ravens.

The fourth-year quarterback from Toronto was 49 of 62 for 548 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. He easily shattered the previous CIS mark of 41 completions set in 1981 by Varsity Blues QB Dan Feraday and tied in 2012 by current Sherbrooke quarterback Jeremi Roch.

It was the 1000th game in the storied history of the Varsity Blues football program, which dates back 153 years.

Nassar's 548 yards through the air and 62 attempts both rank seventh on the all-time CIS list. His passing yards total was the highest total in the country this season.

He also broke Feraday's old school record of 546 passing yards, also set in 1981.
