CALGARY - Calgary police have charged an Australian woman who says she is an underage victim of sex trafficking and exploitation.

Police say a woman walked into a city health centre last month and said she was a 14-year-old who had been abducted and sexually assaulted over a prolonged period.

She was taken to hospital where health workers and police spent hours working with her to establish the extent of her abuse and to provide care.

Police say the were notified last week of a case in Dublin, Ireland, last year in which police charged a woman for making similar claims.

It's believed the woman, who uses a number of aliases including Aurora Hepburn, is the same in both instances.

Samantha Lyndell Azzopardi, who is 26, is charged with public mischief to mislead a peace officer.
