Game-breakers came in the form of a great catch, a lengthy kick and a rumbling run that led directly to victories by the Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and the New Orleans Saints who all trailed at some point during their games before winning in overtime or in the dying seconds of regulation.
We begin with the Battle of Texas in Arlington as the Cowboys and the Houston Texans battled into overtime. This Tony Romo to Dez Bryant heave and catch set up the winning 49-yard field goal by Dan Bailey.
In Detroit, the Buffalo Bills were down 14-0 early but bounced back with a fourth-quarter game tying drive led by quarterback Kyle Orton and a 2-point conversion. In the final minute, Buffalo drove close enough for Dan Carpenter to attempt a 58-yard field goal.
Earlier Carpenter had his the upright on a 50-yard attempt and the Bills complained to officials that Carpenter was being bothered by a laser pointer from the stands. On his second attempt at long distance, Carpenter nailed it.
In the Big Easy, the Saints led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at halftime but fell behind 24-13 in the third quarter before tying the game 31-31. In overtime, Khiry Robinson showed plenty of bounce as he bowled through the Bucs defence in overtime to give New Orleans its second victory on five starts. Check it out.
