Remember when the price of gas was actually affordable?

LOL. Neither do we.

But Shell Canada tried to jog our memories this morning, when they dropped gas prices at to a mere 39.9 cents a litre — or the approximate price of gas in Alberta in 1984.

Lately, it's cost about $1.19 a litre to fill up in the country's oil and gas province.

Drivers in Fort Saskatchewan, Edmonton and Calgary were surprised to find they could fill their tanks for a fraction of what it usually costs.

The promotion was held to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary of refining in Alberta.

Eight stations across the province will feature the rolled-back prices, for approximately an hour at a time.

Plenty of drivers were so stoked with their cheap fill-ups, they took to Twitter to brag:
