Toronto Maple Leafs madness hits the city as team plays season's 1st home game

Toronto Maple Leafs mania hit the city today as the much beloved and criticized hockey team readied to play its first game of the season.

Part of Yonge Street was shut down for pre-game celebrations including concerts, prizes and giveaways.

Thousands filled the streets, many sporting the team's blue and white colours.

But to see the game up close could cost a lot.

According to TiqIQ, resale Leafs tickets are the most expensive in the NHL with the median price running over $400 — almost double league median which is around $180.

And the crowds are also inside as sports bars near the Air Canada Centre began filling up early in the day with people hoping to hold onto a seat to watch the game.
