The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that Adirondack Flames president Brian Petrovek said Tuesday the organization is "extinguishing" Scorch.
Last Thursday, the Calgary Flames' American Hockey League affiliate issued an apology just hours after introducing Scorch with a skit that showed him overpowering an actor portraying a firefighter. The team's back story for Scorch said he was the last surviving spark from an actual fire that destroyed much of Glens Falls in the 1860s.
Team officials said the skit was done "in poor taste."
The mascot didn't appear at the Flames' home opener last Saturday.
Petrovek said the team is designing a new mascot.
